Clifton, Nottingham

The importance of accommodating new sustainable residential and employment growth on the southern edge of Nottingham has been recognised by Government in the emerging Regional Spatial Strategy and in the identification of Nottingham as part of the Growth Point. This is a development of significant regional importance which is a great opportunity for the City.

This part of the City is already the subject of various significant amounts of public and private sector infrastructure investment; £400 million is committed to the Nottingham Express Transit and Park and Ride facilities, £24 million has been set aside by Network Rail for the Parkway Station, and the Highways Agency have recently confirmed their investment of £90 million in to proposals to widen the A453. Not to mention the proposals to extend East Midlands Airport.

These factors have been important to Nottingham Forest Football Club in identifying a location for this stadium. This presents an opportunity for something special for Nottingham: a new generation stadium to accommodate both national and international events, together with the wider ‘sustainable urban extension’ to Nottingham, which will create new employment opportunities, deliver regenerative benefits for Clifton, and increase the range of housing availability.

This truly is: A NEW VISION FOR NOTTINGHAM.

Moving on from this announcement we will be communicating and consulting with the community and stakeholders to ensure all points of view are heard.
