Wilson Bowden Developments delivers a duo in Leamington Spa

Wilson Bowden Developments are announced as preferred developers for the Chandos Street development project

Following a speculative announcement last month Warwick District Council have now confirmed their selection of preferred developer for the Chandos Street development in Leamington Town Centre as Wilson Bowden Developments.

Wilson Bowden Developments beat off competition from other developers to be selected for the 175,000 sq ft retail scheme.

The chosen developers are no strangers to this area of Leamington Spa having completed the 50,000 sq ft Regent Court scheme last year, which is home to prestigious retailers such as Austin Reed, Jaeger, Lombok and Strada.

Wilson Bowden Developments won the Chandos Street scheme with proposals for 175,000 sq ft of retail space, a new 500 space shoppers’ car park and a small number of apartments. The development will be anchored with a full line Department Store. And will provide a number of other large retail units with the principle aim of attracting new retailers to Leamington Spa.

Simon Russian, Development Director for Wilson Bowden Developments said;
“We are delighted to be working with Warwick District Council again; the proposed scheme will further enhance the towns’ retail offering providing larger units for modern retailers, and a much needed additional Department Store to satisfy the demand within the area. We are confident that we can deliver a quality development which will meet the aspirations of all concerned”.

An outline planning application is likely to be submitted in early 2008 following a period of full consultation. The plans for the development will be showcased in public during this process.

Chapman Taylor will be the architects on the scheme and are familiar with Leamington Spa, having been the architects on the Royal Priors shopping scheme. Hartnell Taylor Cook will be acting as letting agents.
